Maliketh, the Black Blade
Old Lord's Talisman, Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone x3
Crumbling Farum Azula is the endgame legacy dungeon accessed after the Forge of the Giants. It is a massive, floating temple complex suspended in a hurricane, torn apart by the passage of time and the battle between the Ancient Dragons and the beastmen. The architecture features winding stone pathways, dragon altars, and crumbling pillars that defy gravity. This is the penultimate area of Elden Ring, leading to Maliketh, the Black Blade — the holder of the Rune of Death. Farum Azula is largely linear but densely packed with some of the toughest non-boss enemies in the game, including beastmen, banished knights, and ancient dragons.
The first Site of Grace after entering Farum Azula via the burning of the Erdtree.
The central structure of Farum Azula. Houses the Godskin Duo boss fight and connects to the rest of the area.
An outdoor section with floating stone platforms and beastmen enemies.
The final Site of Grace before the Maliketh boss fight. Near a Draconic Tree Sentinel.
A dual boss fight against Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble simultaneously in the Dragon Temple. Required for progression.
The main boss of Farum Azula. Two phases — Beast Clergyman (phase 1) transforms into Maliketh (phase 2). Drops the Remembrance of the Black Blade and unlocks the Rune of Death.
A hidden, optional superboss. Accessible by lying down on the broken platform near the tornado arena. An ancient dragon lord with powerful lightning attacks.
Guards the path before the Great Bridge. Similar to the Leyndell version but with slightly higher stats.
Found in Farum Azula. Extends the duration of sorceries and incantations by 30%.
Several scattered throughout Farum Azula. Required to upgrade special weapons to +10.
Found in Farum Azula. Given to the Twin Husks at Roundtable Hold to unlock unlimited Smithing Stone 7 and 8 purchases.
Farum Azula is mostly linear. From Tempest-Facing Balcony, progress through the Crumbling Beast Grave sections, enter the Dragon Temple, defeat the Godskin Duo, and continue upward. The final stretch leads to the Great Bridge, past a Draconic Tree Sentinel, to the Beside the Great Bridge Grace, and finally the Maliketh boss fog. For the optional Placidusax boss, drop down near the tornado at the end of the area and lie down on the broken pillar platform. Fextralife's Farum Azula guide has detailed walkthroughs for every section. Wikipedia's Elden Ring lore explains the significance of Farum Azula as the resting place of the Dragonlord.
Pro Tip
Godskin Duo is widely considered one of the toughest mandatory fights in the game. Use sleep pots to put one of them to sleep, reducing it to a 1v1 fight. Alternatively, use a high-damage bleed build and focus one down before the other can meaningfully intervene. For Placidusax, the arena is accessed via a hidden path — after the lightning-dragon bridge area, look for a platform with a prompt to 'lie down' near the tornado.
