Overview

The Bleed build is one of the most powerful and accessible setups in Elden Ring, capable of melting even the toughest bosses in seconds. By stacking Arcane and equipping weapons with innate Hemorrhage buildup like Giant-Crusher, you trigger percentage-based blood loss damage that scales with the enemy's maximum HP. This build excels in both PvE and PvP, offering high damage output with relatively low stat investment compared to pure Strength or Intelligence builds. The core strategy revolves around aggressive dual-wielding with katanas or curved swords, supplemented by the White Mask helmet and Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman for massive damage spikes when bleed procs.

Stats & Gear

Talismans

  • Claw Talisman — 15% jump attack damage boost
  • Shard of Alexander — 15% skill damage for weapon ashes
  • Ritual Sword Talisman — 10% damage at full HP (common with high VIG)
  • Great-Jar's Arsenal — Carries the heavy equipment load for poise armor

Playstyle & Strategy

The bleed playstyle revolves around constant aggression. You want to stay in the enemy's face, chaining light attacks with dual katanas to build up the Hemorrhage meter as quickly as possible. Corpse Piler (Giant-Crusher's unique skill) is your bread and butter — it fires repeated blood slashes in a wide arc that deal massive damage and build bleed extremely fast. Against bosses, open with Seppuku on your off-hand to pre-buff, then rush in with running L1 powerstance attacks. Once the bleed procs, the White Mask and Lord of Blood's Exultation activate simultaneously, giving you a massive damage window to Corpse Piler spam.

For ashes of war, Lion's Claw is the top choice for strength weapons — it provides hyper-armor (you can't be interrupted during the animation), massive damage, and excellent poise break. Against bosses, use the Cragblade ash for even more poise damage, or Royal Knight's Resolve for raw damage on a single hit. Wear the heaviest armor you can to maintain 51+ poise (the breakpoint to tank light attacks). The Bull-Goat Set or Veteran's Set are ideal. Charge attack with the Axe Talisman for an additional 10% damage on charged heavies.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Highest single-hit damage in the game
  • Massive stagger — enemies rarely fight back
  • Simple, easy-to-execute playstyle
  • Huge poise damage breaks bosses quickly
  • Extremely tanky with high VIG and heavy armor

Cons

  • Slow attack recovery leaves you vulnerable
  • Poor FP management (low MND)
  • Low status effect buildup
  • Heavy equipment load limits fashion options
  • Struggles against fast, mobile bosses

Pro Tip

Two-handing your weapon gives 1.5x effective Strength. At 54 Strength two-handed, you hit the 80 hard cap for damage. This means you can invest the extra 26 points into Vigor and Endurance instead. Always two-hand your colossal weapon unless you need a shield for a specific fight.
